Friday, August 13, 2010 - Honey, roses and lychee on the nose, with more spice coming in the back end. this has leaned up quite a bit in the last three years since I had it. Deceptively full bodied with great clarity and focus, with a spicy almost components that add to the fruit. For my palalte, while outstanding, this is somewhere between the fruity (not sweet fruit) exuberance of youth and the more smoky- savory- spicy aged gewurz, and I think it is a touch awkward in that sense. I will hold the rest of my blles a while to let them get through this phase. Still outstanding.
Saturday, May 22, 2010 - Very nice, typically Trimbach expression of the varietal and the terroir. Very nice, with florals, spice and honeyed fruits on the nose, especially apricot. In the mouth it is rich and has a great mouthfeel. Excellent fruit and spice. Very good length with nice complexity. Refrains from being cloying. I love the Trimbach style, so I am a bit biased in saying this, but it is a delicious bottle!
Friday, May 14, 2010 - At PDF for BF 2.5 Session 1. This is a great wine that I first bought when Jean Trimbach was pouring at Max Marrinucci's Wine Connection, and then again when he was pouring at Zachy's a few years later. This wine is better than when I drank it 2-1/2 years ago. Apricot, Lychee nut and honey but the RS, accoring to Trimbach, is Zero. There is a bitterness in some gewurztraminer, and I generally prefer to Zind Humbrecht gewurz to the Trimbach, but that may simply have been lack of patience. I am very happy with where this wine is after 10 years. The bitterness at the back of the palate that you get in some Gewurztraminer in completely gone and the flavors have integrated into a smooth melange. Love it.

(TRIMBACH Gewurztraminer RIBEAUPIERRE) #3; VaynerPAZZZ (on QPR); COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-very chalky; little underlying Pineapple, spicy, unfocused, wet rock, pretty tight; TASTE-this is gorgeous, this is text book, getting a little leachy fruit, beautiful golden Pear on the mid-palate; really rounded by very focused spiciness, very rounded, pepper leaves, very structured, great balance, weakest bouquet and the least explosive of the 3 wines, but the most focused & well rounded; very polished & well-made, but the fruit is slightly lacking; PR-92; GV-91
